The use of a boat for survival or escape in “End of the World” scenarios has been largely misunderstood. By addressing some questions posed recently, some common misconceptions may be cleared up. Some worry that having a boat community would leave inhabitants in danger from gangs or pirates. But having community would actually benefit all members by allowing them to work together for protection and defense. Others are concerned with the amount of firepower a boat could be hit with before sinking. Although this depends a lot on the boat materials and ammo, this type of attack is not very likely. Concerns about fuel are moot if you have a sailboat. Building a rain catching system will take care of water needs. Cooking can be done with a solar oven. The boating community can take care of several needs such as schooling of children, barter and trade, medical emergencies and communication with the outside world. As long as you are prepared with plenty of spare equipment, the knowledge on how to make repairs, and weapons that you know how to use, a boat can be a great place to wait out the end of the world.
